Platt R. Spencer School (also Spencer Elementary School) is an institute of primary education located in Geneva, Ohio, named after Platt Rogers Spencer, and is a member of the Geneva Area City School District. The school was built in 1924 and served as the city's high school under the name East Geneva Rural School. In 1937, the name of the school was changed to Platt R. Spencer School in honor of Spencer, who created the Spencerian penmanship writing system of cursive handwriting and who lived in Geneva. In 1961, the school was converted into a K-6 elementary school which it still is today. The school's current principal is Michael Penzenik; the Wildcats serve as the school's mascot.
