Plan B (Oz episode)

Plan B is the 7th episode of the 1st series of Oz Synopsis:

Kareem Said wakes up and is furious with Huseni Mershah for letting him have a heart attack. Said excommunicates him from the Muslim group and all Muslims are forbidden from having anything to do with him to the point they move away from the table when he sits with them and ignore him when they try to talk to him. Mershaw tries to incriminate Said with Simon Adebisi for the killing of Jefferson Keane but Adebesi sees through him. Mershaw then tries to sell Said out to Tim McManus claiming Said is stockpiling weapons. Leo Glynn thinks this is a good opportunity but Mcmanus thinks it is just Mershaw trying to get revenge. A shakedown is enacted and due to what the CO's find, TV, gym and phone privileges are cancelled. The inmates learn Mershaw sold them out and as he is transferred to Gen Pop he is spat on and then commits suicide in his cell. Said is furious and alerts the media, and equally furious Glynn bans the wearing of religious clothes,prayer beads etc. A move specifically aimed at the muslims. The Muslims take this in their stride after Said tells them they do not need them to be a good Muslim but displays a demonstration in the cafeteria. This deeply impresses Donald Groves who looks up to Said and hails him with 'Salami ilikeem' in an attempt to impress him with the Islamic greeting. Groves trys to murder Glynn but kills Lawrence Smith by accident and is sentenced to death.Groves chooses to die by firing squad. Groves is visited by Smith's mother who tell him she forgives him, he is executed but his last words are unheard. Smith's murder causes the COs to take their anger out on the inmates.

A new inmate Eugene Dobbins arrives in Oz who is a talented cello player. Dobbins' skill impresses Augustus Hill and when Hill learns Dobbins feels his cello is lonely on its own, Hill arranges for a trumpet player to join him. Jackson Vahue's behaviour and drug taking causes Hill to dislike him as he threatens Dobbins and later breaks his prized cello.

THe ground glass Ryan O'Reily and Adebisi feed Nino Schibetta causes him to bleed from all his facial orifices.

Tobias Beecher is released from the hole and is immediately taunted by Scott Ross and assorted Aryans and Bikers. Beecher stands up for himself for the first time and a fight almost breaks out but is stopped by the hacks. Vern Schillinger is released from hospital and faces off against his former prag in the gym. Beecher kicks him the groin and beats him with weights before shitting on Schillinger's face. THis earns him the respect of O'Reily, Adebisi and Miguel Alvarez who cheer him on as he beats up the despised Schillinger.
