Plac Powstańców Warszawy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Plac Powstańców Warszawy (lit. Warsaw Uprisers' Square, formerly Plac Napoleona) is a square in downtown Warsaw. Located at the junction of Świętokrzyska and Szpitalna streets and in proximity of the Nowy Świat street, it is one of the central squares of that city. Most of its buildings were destroyed following the Warsaw Uprising and currently it is notable for only two landmarks, namely the main seat of the National Bank of Poland (dubbed trumna or coffin by the Varsovians) and the former Prudential building, the second sky-scraper in Warsaw.
