Lincoln Pius X High School is the central Catholic High School in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Diocese of Lincoln. It was founded 1 October 1956 by Bishop Louis B. Kucera. The school took Saint Pius X's motto, "Restore All Things In Christ" as its guiding mission. In October of 2006, the school will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Its current Superintendent is Father Michael Morin.
Lincoln Pius X's mascot is Theo the Thunderbolt. The school colors are green and gold.
Recently, the school administration has been criticised by its student body about new changes to the rules and thus held an open forum concerning them. Some of these rule changes include shorter passing periods, enforcing the purchase of banded polo shirts, and banning senior pictures from the yearbook shot by an outside professional photographer. Suggestions for new rules include removing an off period for seniors and hair length for male students.
In March of 2006, it was announced that Tom Korta, Assistant Principal, had decided to resign from his position at the end of the school year. Shortly thereafter, Principal Tom Seib announced he would step down as principal in order to return to teaching. Assistant Principal Korta decided to remove his resignation in order to run for the vacant principal position. In May of 2006, Mr. Tom Korta was named to be the new Principal of Pius X High School.
Pius X High School is known for its excellence in academics.
