Pitzhanger Manor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pitzhanger Manor Gallery and House comprises Pitzhanger Manor House, a restored Georgian villa once owned and designed by Sir John Soane in Ealing, London, in 1800. It is a Grade I listed building and serves as the London Borough of Ealing's main museum.

The building was acquired by the old Ealing District Council in 1901 for use as a public library. A sympathetically designed extension to the House, built in 1940, is now the largest art gallery in West London. The library was moved out in 1985 and a program of restoration was then begun.
