The Pittsburgh RiverRats are an American Indoor Football Association team scheduled to begin play in 2007. The team will play its home games at the Rostraver Ice Garden in Rostraver Township, Pennsylvania.
[edit] History
On August 4, 2006, the AIFA announced that the Pittsburgh RiverRats would be entering the league. Not too long after, the Eastern Indoor Football League threatened a lawsuit claiming that the league had violated a copyright (the EIFL had a team in the same area called the 3 Rivers Rats). The status of this lawsuit is uncertain.
Pittsburgh's head coach was originally going to coach for 3Rivers, but he took Pittsburgh because they offered more money, and Pittburgh would have a home, while 3Rivers would be a traveling team.
On August 20, the team announced they had signed quarterback David Dinkins as their starting QB/franchise player. Dinkins had previously played for the Erie Freeze.
