Pioneer is a village in Williams County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,460 at the 2000 census.

Pioneer is located at 41°40′50″N, 84°33′10″W (41.680569, -84.552796)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 4.3 km² (1.7 mi²). 4.1 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (3.61%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,460 people, 593 households, and 400 families residing in the village. The population density was 352.3/km² (911.8/mi²). There were 636 housing units at an average density of 153.5/km² (397.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.40% White, 0.34% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.68% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.99% of the population.

There were 593 households out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $37,153, and the median income for a family was $46,369. Males had a median income of $32,917 versus $21,466 for females. The per capita income for the village was $18,024. About 5.9% of families and 6.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 5.3% of those age 65 or over.
