Pinkie Respect is a gesture that originated with Stream of Passion. Its invention is accredited to "Yvette", Arjen Lucassen's Personal Assistant.

Most probably for marketing reasons, the band was asked to refrain from making the devil horns sign, supposedly because of the cliché. As a substitute, the "pinkie respect" sign was coined. It's the same gesture except for the index. For added effect, you can stick your pinkie out and wiggle it.
