re User talk:81.132.104.250

Re the vandalism complaint: it is considered acceptable by many editors to simple expunge entries from Wikipedia:Articles for creation when they are blatantly of no merit (e.g. empty submissions, patent nonsense, hoaxes and copyvios). I deleted the Lady (Obie Trice) entry because it's a copyright violation of an Eminem song, and the main text of the Powerstar submission because it's also a cut-and-paste.

If you look at the history, you'll find other users doing the same: for example, [1] 81.132.104.250 23:41, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

The reason for the warning was due to this. Hope that clears things up. --Winter 23:48, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
OK. I was in error there in deleting the title too. However, that was no reason for you to revert all the other edits, such as the Powerstar, where I left the topic intact but just snipped the cut-and-pasted section, leaving the URL as proof. 81.132.104.250 23:55, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Flag user button

Hi there. I was wondering, as a fellow RC patroller, if some sort of 'flag user' button would be effective in finding and preventing vandalism. I was thinking about something along the lines of a small check box, much like the minor edit one, that could be checked if a user has made a test edit/vandalism edit, whenever a RC patroller, for example, leaves a warning on their talk page. Then in the recent changes, a "show flagged users only" option could be made available, for easy monitoring of trouble users. What do you think? --Jay(Reply) 03:24, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Mind telling me why you reverted Robert Jager to its original state? It does look like a copyvio to me, if I overlooked something I'd sure like to learn about it. Thanks. Algae 23:03, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Unwarranted

Your recent vandalism flag against me and the subsequent revert on the Generation Y page are entirely out of line. Recent edits had seriously corrupted/co-opted a proprietary piece of analysis attributed to me both within that article and in other articles regarding generational subsets on wikipedia. My actions were entirely appropriate, and my discussion page description clearly gives the other authors the opportunity to either delete or respond to my analysis, but makes it clear I will not tolerate bad-faith attempts to modify said analysis to give the impression that I support or endorse someone else's views.

If you continue these superfluous reverts or continue to vandal flag my talk page I will report you to an admin for appropriate action.

Tupac Edit

I recently added CONTENT to the Tupac Shakur entry. I added a line under the "Awards" section that said one of his albums was recently recognized by MTV as being one of the "Top 10 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time". This addition was deleted by the "Pilotguy" person, under the auspices of removing "Commercial links to my 'personal website'" (the link was to the supporting article on MTV's website).

If you want to eliminate this CONTENT, first of all, call it for what it is. CONTENT, pure and simple.

Also, if you're going to remove this, you need to immediately remove the reference posted by someone else that Tupac was recognized as "The Greatest MC of All Time" by MTV on their Greatest 22 MCs of All Time Countdown show.

Same difference. I can accept your being WRONG, 100%. At least be CONSISTENT in your wrong-ness, so it doesn't look wrong *and* random at the same time. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.125.149.243 (talkcontribs).

Chill out dude. Before you start ranting abot nonsense, the only thing I [should have] removed was a non-notable website. If there's something else I've removed, then just add it back in. Next time, be polite with me. --Pilotguy (talk ¦ ) 01:26, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Pay more attention to your edits before you randomly remove content that others have spent their time researching. The only website added was a link to the source of the content, the MTV News website. As was mentioned, if you feel this to be a "non-notable site", then apply your criteria consistently across the board. Don't even presume to lecture me on 'politeness'. Deleting content that others have spent their valuable time researching, verifying and adding to an entry - with zero accuracy on your part + a form letter - is the *height* of impolite. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.125.149.243 (talkcontribs).

SPOONGAP

I am nearly computer illiterate; so answers should be somewhat more basic and detailed than usual.

I asked if it was possible for Wiki to store an audio recording and add a link to it from F-105.

Yes, apparently. But I do not know which software to download to my computer, and it is apparent that a user whould also have to have Ogg on his computer. That is not likely, it seems.

Is Hydrogenaudio where I start? --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.51.25.115 (talkcontribs).

Hey, Pilot hun! It was such a pleasant suprise to see your message - not sure if you had noticed, but I've been semi-active for a week and completely absent for another, so no wonder the vandals have not targeted me lately ;) Yet I know that they will eventually, and I feel safe as long as friends like you are watching over me - and you can count on me watching your back too! ;) Again, thank you so much for your good wishes, I hope you're doing great yourself. Hey, about that message you sent me, I am assuming it had to do with the aspergers syndrome being taken off of the article "Geek". User talk:70.241.85.55

70.241.85.55 was recently accused of "vandalizing" a wikipedia page about Gabriela Mistral. In actuality, the vandal was 24.5.109.111. You can go over the history of that page to check. All I did was attempt to remove the vandalism and revert it back to an original page. I ask that you please remove the vandalism warning from 70.241.85.55. 70.241.85.55 21:50, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

KM sorry just one more thing: the info put under sororities is specific to them and may not reflect the fraternities that is why they were seperated. to classify them as the same is not correct. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.232.27.184 (talkcontribs).

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Pilotguy/Archive2, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of JoanneB, FireFox and Titoxd. The next set of elections are right now.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Your popups edit summary was incorrect...

...on this edit. Don't know if the problem is with the tool, its use, or the timing. You also actually restored the vandalism you were attempting to correct. If the tool can't be fixed, I guess its edits need to be checked after the fact. 24.18.215.132 03:44, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I had restored it to what I thought was the correct edit, but I understand what I did now. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. --Pilot|guy 03:47, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

...

Im really confused here, I put what I was doing in the talk page and made a very small edit, could you plese stop sending me the message telling me to stop vandalizing? You might be biased against people who dont want to set up a member account, which is why you send me the template that says "welcome to wikipedia, please create an account" but I was under the impression that I did not have to do this to use wikipedia. Could you please agree to stop the threats? --67.161.93.159 04:30, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

I might be new to the conversation, but I really don't think being biased against anonymous editors has anything to do with it. Creating an account is fast and easy and you really would benefit from it. Also you get to make use of the watchlist (you can watch pages) that you can't normally do as an anon IP. I also send welcome messages to anon IPs, does that make me biased too? — nathanrdotcom (TCW) 13:44, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, first of all, nathanrdotcom has a point. No one is being biased against you. I'm sorry you feel you were threatened, but I can reassure you otherwise. In most cases, being an anon editor is perfectly okay. However, this edit [3] removed a considerable number of useful links, which was detected by our CVU Bot. You attempted to so so again, [4] but that was also reverted, this time without a notification. You may also wish to clarify your actions on the talk page [5] so people will better understand what you are doing, and a consensous can be reached therefore your edits won't be treated as vandalism. I appreciate you being bold, though. --Pilot|guy 14:43, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

ADFA

IF you look at my actual reasons for editing the ADFA page they are actually legitimate. PLEASE read my editorial comments. The "Culture" section is not referenced or sourced, how is that encyclopaedic? It could be pure fiction. It paints the Academy in a negative light, and as a student there I feel it to be my duty to protect its image. It is a legitimate concern. If it was sourced I would accept it, but it is not... PLEASE treat this concern seriously. Im not actually vandalising it... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 61.68.136.34 (talkcontribs).

I've added {{unreferenced}} to it for you. --Pilot|guy 01:23, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

User: Froggles page

Hello, I was wondering if you had automatically reverted User: Froggles' userpage to the last version without looking at the content. I'm asking this, because the current revision shows what looks like a personal attack.

I don't know the user, so I'm tempted to revert the user page all the way back to the only edit that is listed under Froggles' own name. --Tachikoma 18:47, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Addendum to the last message--User:Vary has reverted the page to the second earliest version, which doesn't look so much like a personal attack. Sorry to take up your time. --Tachikoma 18:51, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
I wasn't sure whether it was better to respond on your talk page or mine. While I think that in principle all vandalism on Wikipedia should be reverted or removed, maybe in this case Froggles' page should fall a bit farther down on the priority list--that is, revert vandalism there if you stumble upon it, but don't go out of your way to guard it, either.
You might want to ask the opinion of the other people who have reverted Froggles' page, too. --Tachikoma 23:41, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Vizzy

Hi. I saw that you some time ago placed an {{advert}} template on Vizzy. I can't quite see the justification for this in the article or on the talk page. Maybe you were looking for {{POV}}? If I have missed something, please let me know. Cheers, Sam Korn (smoddy) 11:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

I'll answer it on Sam's page because I am responsible for it. Tintin (talk) 12:04, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Ante Pavelić

The content i deleted does not belong in an encyclopedia - its either

conjecture: "The extent of this campaign against the Serbs was a real genocide, because they aimed to exterminate a third of them, expel another third, and Catholicize another. The Ustaše succeeded in reaching their first goal - they exterminated close to one third Serbs, even if not more."

or of questionable connection to the article: "Utashe atrocities made a strong impression on literature and poetry. "Basket of Oysters", a chapter of Curzio Malaparte's novel Kaputt, depicted Ustashe's widespread practice of gouging out the eyes of Serbs. In Jama ("The Pit"), Ivan Goran Kovačić wrote of how Serbs were wrapped in barbed wire and dropped into pits. Other works inspired by the Ustashe were Oljača's Kozara and Svetina's Volčiči ("The Wolf Puppies")."

For goodeness sake the author cant even keep a consistent spelling of Ustashe!

Novels should not be used as reference works as they are largely works of fiction.

That is why i have made the adaptions i did. I note that the first change has not been replaced. I feel that the second one should also be removed for the reasons stated above.

I will now set up a wikipedia account. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.59.53.117 (talkcontribs).

vandalism???

i moved a section from group theory into groups where it belongs. the section makes reference to axioms in 'the top of the article' which are in fact in the groups article. the groups theory page is a broad overview of the subject, and the groups page gives technical details. the section i tranfered was a section of generalisations of groups and not generalisations of 'group theory'. i've just done it again with an editorial comment sorry. and yet again a third time...

Vandals.

I understand completely about your vandal issues, as I've had some myself. Please understand there are others who have been through the same as you have (vandalisms varying in intensity of course), please don't feel like you are the only one. If you ever need to talk about it or vent, you know where I am. I'd like to lend a sympathetic ear if I can (via here or IM, whatever you feel is best). — nathanrdotcom (TCW) 05:51, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

I left a message for 201.130.133.221 to better explain himself or herself in edit summaries when moving content. It looks like they wanted to move some content from one article to another, but on the surface it probably appeared like a case of blanking vandalism.

In the meantime, I hope your stress level goes down. If it would help, remember that not all anonymous edits are clearly vandalism -- some are good-faith edits by people who are simply unfamiliar with the system. --Elkman - (talk) 13:41, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

syntax question for reversion edit summaries

Hi there, I've been wondering what the exact syntax is for doing the edit summaries for reverting vandalism?

So far I've tried (for example):

rv edits by 127.0.0.1
rv edits by 127.0.0.1 to last version by User:User
rv edits by [[User:127.0.0.1]] to last version by User:User

and no matter what I try, I just can't get it to work like what I see on the recent changes page, where you can click to see the user's contributions.

Is there any chance you might enlighten me on this? Thanks. --Tachikoma 23:53, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

What you're looking for is [8] (godmode light) or [9] (popups). Either one works but godmode light is usually glitchy so I would just use popups. --Pilot|guy 00:01, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
