Pilot Pen Tennis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pilot Pen Tennis (played between 1990 and 1998 as the Volvo International) is a professional tennis tournament held in New Haven, Connecticut, and first contested in 1990. The tournament takes place just before the beginning of the fourth and last Grand Slam tournament of the season, the U.S. Open. Between 1998 and 2004 the New Haven site did not host a men's tournament. In 2005 the men's event returned to New Haven, where it runs in conjunction with a WTA Tour women's draw.
The Pilot Pen is also a part of the US Open Series, a six-week summer tennis season of 10 major North American tournaments linked to the US Open.
