Pilipinas Kong Mahal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pilipinas Kong Mahal (English: My Beloved Philippines) is one of the most popular patriotic songs in the Philippines. Other popular songs are Bayan Ko (My Country) and Magkaisa (Unite). In the Philippines, patriotic songs are often sung in political rallies, protests and demonstrations. They are also performed in plays and patriotic song or dance numbers, especially in schools on Araw ng Kalayaan (Independence Day) and Buwan ng Wika (Language Month).

[edit] Lyrics

(Tagalog)
Ang bayan ko'y tanging ikaw
Pilipinas Kong Mahal
Ang puso ko at buhay man
Sa iyo'y ibibigay

Tungkulin kong gagampanan
na lagi kang paglingkuran
Ang laya mo'y babantayan
Pilipinas kong Hirang...

(English)
I love my own native land
Philippines, my Philippines
To thee I give my heart and hand
Philippines, my Philippines.
the trees that crown thy mountains grand,
the seas that beat upon thy strand
Awake my heart to thy command,
Philippines, my Philippines
.
