PikoIsland is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) based on Pirate characters. The games environment is made using Active Worlds. PikoIsland offers both pay-to-play and free-to-play membership options to players.

PikoIsland started way back in early 2004. The game still had not been properly planned and was not going to be a pirate game. Later on in 2004 the developers chose the theme to be a pirate based game. The game was designed in a fashion that made it both textually and 3d based. These options allowed gamers who like both types of games to enjoy gameplay. Development on both text-based and 3d aspects of the game began in 2005. Shortly after beginning, 3d aspects of the game were dropped and only development continued in with text based plan. In late 2005, early 2006 a new engine was acquired which gave developers the ability to properly start the development of the 3d game.

PikoIsland is currently in Beta Testing but still has a large amout of work before the project is complete.
