Talk:Pierre Dugué de Boisbriand
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Long-time interest in this figure (possible ancestor). I've compiled information from dozens of sources, only a bit of which I've included here so far. Will probably expand this again later and add images. I urge others with information to contribute.

The article Pierre Dugué de Boisbriant concerns the same person; it should be merged here. (We should also think about making some redirects to preempt future reduplication.) QuartierLatin1968 02:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think they should merge. Maestlin 20:30, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay, 'tis done. Within the text of the article, would it not be better to refer to him as Boisbriant (or Boisbriand) rather than Dugué? Surnames in this era are much less used than titles or geographic epithets. René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle is referred to throughout his article as La Salle; Gilbert du Motier, marquis de La Fayette is referred to as La Fayette; Jean Baptiste Bissot, Sieur de Vincennes is referred to as Vincennes, etc. I know Canadian Biography doesn't comply in this case, but I do wonder what their reasons are.
