Pielinen

The Pielinen is the fifth-largest lake of Finland. It covers an area of 894,21 km² in the North Karelia region at an altitude of 93.7 m above sea level. The lake has a length of 100 km and a breadth of 10 km.

At the northern tip of the lake is the town Nurmes. The Koli National Park is located at the western shore of the lake, the town Lieksa at the eastern shore.

The asteroid 1536 Pielinen is named after the lake.
