Piedmont League
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Piedmont League was a minor league baseball league that operated from 1920 through 1955. It began as a Class D league, and by the time of its closure, it was at Class B level.
As its name implies, many of its clubs were in cities in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Some of its more populous cities eventually found homes in other leagues. These are cities once in the Piedmont League and now in other leagues, as of the 2006 season:
- Raleigh, North Carolina (actually Zebulon)
- Lynchburg, Virginia
- Salem(Roanoke), Virginia
- Wilmington, North Carolina
- Winston-Salem, North Carolina
