Traditional meal in the North of England, consisting of a potato and meat stew topped with a square piece of pastry or biscuit and served with mushy peas & pickled red cabbage.
The Pie & Peas Supper is a popular choice for gatherings.
Unsophisticated or very provincial northerners are often referred to as "a bit pie & peas".
