Hi Picone, you're actually right about this. I've changed the wording to: "A preponderance of scientific evidence suggests that dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years." (a "preponderance" means "a large majority" or a "very large amount"). By the way, your written English is better than that of many native speakers, so no worries on that count.
