[edit] Anti-Islamic POV???
Is UninvitedCompany really anti-Islamic? Is -Ril- really pro-Islamic? I realize that UninvitedCompany said he was editing from an anti-Islamic POV, but I thought that comment was just meant to antagonize -Ril-. (After all, antagonizing trolls is fun, even if it is not good admin behavior.) I didn't know that -Ril- really had any POV, except an anti-Christian one. (Most of the anti-Christians I have known have been atheists, not Muslims.) Robert McClenon 16:11, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
-
- I still would guess that he was trying to antagonize -Ril-. Antagonizing trolls is fun. Robert McClenon 21:12, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Excellent. Then he was indeed antagonizing a troll. That is fun, especially if there are rules, but they are not well defined. -Ril- doesn't understand that anyone could actually be trolling him. The troll was trolled. Too bad.
-
UninvitedCompany is a good editor and admin. I am willing to let -Ril- persuade me that he also is, but I think he is just a troll. A troll was trolled. Excellent. Robert McClenon 04:41, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TIRESONG
Is User:God of War, I believe. While the CheckUser evidence wasn't, say, good enough to use in criminal court, GoW edits fairly often from this IP, and the behaviour fits. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 10:29, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Update: GoW insists it wasn't him, and on reflection, while the sentiments might be those GoW would display, he's not that stupid. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 00:13, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Making the case without the other side
It is a common practice for editors who are cited for being disruptive to make the case themselves. Often a user conduct RfC is written, saying that an editor is uncivil and engages in personal attacks. The response is then a diatribe against the editor's critics and opponents. This makes it unnecessary for later readers to view the diffs. There is a discussion on the RfAr talk page about the Lou Franklin RfAr, where his reply is essentially a speech about pro-gay bias. The article probably was biased, but he isn't persuading anyone to work with him to restore balance.
There is another RfAr where the subject seems to be making the case against himself by making too many vindictive motions to gain revenge. You know which one.
Often disruptive editors who make the case against themselves have the basic problem of being chronically angry. I don't think that -Ril- is chronically angry. He is disruptive for some other reason. Robert McClenon 13:13, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
-
- You are correct. He is angry. The difference is that, unlike most chronically angry editors, he is in control of himself. This makes him more subtly dangerous. Robert McClenon 01:07, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- I'm confused by this "I don't think that -Ril- is chronically angry" and "he is angry" appear to be oxymorons?. I'm also confused by the term "dangerous" - dangerous to what? pov pushing? --Victim of signature fascism | There is no cabal 15:39, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] -Ril-
Are you saying that he is having sockpuppets argue with each other either in order to confuse everyone or to be some sort of stylized theater? Robert McClenon 13:27, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] -Ril- again
On further review of the history of the Authentic Matthew deletion debate, it appears that he is doing exactly that. He has sockpuppets who engage in personal attacks on their puppetmaster. This is a common feature of a performance by a ventriloquist, in which the ventriloquist's dummy insults him.
Unfortunately, no matter what happens in this arbitration, -Ril- is going to walk away feeling that she is superior to everyone in Wikipedia because she kept her cool and provoked us. I think that -Ril- is a classic Internet troll. The outcome of the arbitration will not be a "win", but only will minimize the disruption of the encyclopedia. Robert McClenon 13:40, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
You really should pay more attention to that debate. Melissadolbeer created the article and was trying to protect it. I was trying to have it deleted - it was simply original research based on a poor understanding of a single latin quote, and badly put together. Melissadolbeer created the article before I joined wikipedia.
I do agree with Phroziac that Melissadolbeer was a sockpuppet used to edit bible articles, but the only arguments she presented were on 2 articles, one of which she created. If she were a strawman, her arguments would serve no point - one could simply delete the article she created and present strawman arguments. Quite what point of view she was a "strawman"/proponent for I am utterly at a loss to say - her views are downright odd.
She is most certainly not my "strawman" sockpuppet - knocking her "strawman" arguments down would prove nothing except that her article should be deleted - I can't really see the point in creating a sockpuppet for the sole purpose of producing ridiculous articles that you then argue against the existance of, and then trolling yourself by posting absurd accusations of sockpuppetry against yourself, and creating further socks to do so. That's quite insane.
I think Melissadolbeer is the sockpuppet of someone with a more substantial presence in wikipedia. Someone with strange views on Christianity (by all people's perception). Her IP range suggests that she edits from the U.S.. --Victim of signature fascism | There is no cabal 15:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways, from comparing articles that need work to other articles you've edited, to choosing articles randomly (ensuring that all articles with cleanup tags get a chance to be cleaned up). It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 13:59, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signature Help
Hello, Ms. Phroziac. You don't know me, as I'm just a poor, lowly Newcomer who's trying to develop everything (i.e., articles, user page, signature) at once. I tried and tried, but I failed time and time again. I searched for existing signatures, and I found yours in the...er, well, the organization with the very long name. I based my signature off the structure of yours, figured everything out, plucked it into the Sandbox, and all turned out. However, when I tried to put it into My Preferences, it was labeled as invalid, saying I have to check the HTML tags, even though using it elsewhere worked. So, Ms. Phroziac, exactly how do you do it?
Humbly yours, The Ninth Bright Shiner (talk/741k/alktay/hablar/حديث/rede) 05:46, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Time warp baseball
I really don't know. Firstly, the Out of the Park Baseball article needs to state how popular it is, and it currently doesn't. But even if it is, I still have reservations about an article about a "league" for this 2d game. The article (when it was deleted), states that it was for "family and friends [to] appear in the game as players", and it contains a list of player names, which is most unencyclopedic. I'm not the first editor to have expressed my concerns about Time warp baseball: see Talk:Out of the Park Baseball.
I guess if it were substantially improved (notability with references, e.g. being mentioned in a newspaper or something like that; removal of player names; removal of original research, such as quotes from players, unless referenced), it might be ok, but perhaps could you please draft the proposed changes in a subpage and we'll discuss it again? enochlau (talk) 00:18, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] protection help
Phroziac, the article Al Capone could use some protection. A non-registered user (or users) has been vandalizing the article. Registered users have had to revert it at least once or twice per day, and it will be vandalized again within a few hours. Restriction to registered users would be a great start. If you have any questions, just drop me a note. Aces & Eights 06:01, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Hi Phroziac, I noticed you've done some editing of the "box hiding thingy from .de." at MediaWiki:Monobook.css. I was wondering if you would show me how to set the default for a box to "show" rather than "hide". Thanks, Rfrisbietalk 06:45, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simple bot request
I've made this request at Wikipedia:Bot_requests#Batch_move_of_interwiki_images, but all I hear are crickets over there. We've got a non-Wikimedia MediaWiki site over at Wikible; there are several versions of the wiki in different languages, so we also have a Pool (like Wikimedia Commons). We've changed how things work and now have a bunch of images to transfer from wikible.org/en to wikible.org/pool. I don't think anyone has any bot experience in our group. It looks like you've created a similar bot (User:Pfft_Bot) in the past; would you mind helping us out? Read the discussion on our site for more background and relevant links. Thanks!
