[edit] Battle
I've always heard these referred to as Photoshop battles. Would it be legitimate to add something like "also known as..." to the opening sentence? « Amina . skywalker (¿Hábleme?) 14:48, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I've never heard it called anything similar to photoshop battles, as such I'd have to vote against this for now. If you can find a primary reference along a similar vein to those currently listed, however, the inclusion of such a phrase would be acceptable. Additionally, although common online use does not make a phrase notable, it certainly in my opinion makes it worthy of a redirect and/or mention on another page. Hence if this is commonly suggested, it may also have merit. LinaMishima 16:38, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- If you can find references, Amina, it may be notable enough to warrant inclusion. :) Nihiltres 22:58, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- We called them "Photoshop Battles" back on Dreamless.org (this was around 2000–2001), in referrence to the DJ or MC "battles" of the hip-hop world. Also, there's over 15,000 results for "photoshop battle" on Google, and they all refer to the same practice as "Photoshop tennis." I say yes, it's legit. —Down10 T•C 07:25, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Here's a reference to "battle" on Photoshopbrushes.com. Also, this is a thread for "battles" on Photoshopcafe.com. IMHO, I think the term "photoshop battle" is at least worthy of a redirect. :) « amiИa . skyшalkeя (¿Hábleme?) 15:25, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I vote for this. I've always heard of it being called image editing battle/war or photoshop battle/war, depending on if you could use photoshop or not. Torte 00:29, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I would suggest that a better source than photoshopbrushes or a forum thread be found first - compared with the renowned sources for the term photoshop tenis, the above two may appear not to properly meet the need to verify. LinaMishima 01:09, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- More importantly, perhaps, would be that untill a secondary source akin to those already listed calls it 'battle', adding the term without the strong reference would appear to be original research. LinaMishima 01:11, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- And a curious thought - I wonder what the main country of origin of the websites and communities that use these terms are? It wouldn't surprise me if more American orientated communities tended to prefer the 'battles' variant - calling a civil contest 'tennis' (or 'cricket') is quite the britishism (this is not intended to imply any bias by country, indeed would be an interesting point for the article is we can verify my suspicions somehow) LinaMishima 01:09, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- You want sources? You got it:
Battle Farm the Photoshop Photographer Community
Morepixels (playgrounds | photoshop battle | photoshop tennis | graphical collaborations | battle arena...)
Photoshop Battle Royale Tournament at Worth1000
...Not tomention the hundreds of different forum threads all over the Internet that speak of 'battles' using Photoshop and "Photoshop battles" in particular. ...Yes, it's more common in the U.S., so it belongs in the page. The argument is that a term that spans in and across forum communities is notable in its own right, even if the individual threads and forums are not notable. --Down10 TACO 08:01, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
