[edit] Psych Log
Going to keep track of read items from the List of psychological topics or Category:Psychology. Mostly interested in useful tidbits for personal development.
- activity theory - Learning as the fulfillment of knowledge-goals. Tacit knowledge involves internalization of an activity (?) that seems to fulfil a goal, although the user is not necessarily explicitly aware of his manner.
- affect theory - I wrote most of this
- alogia - Not providing unprompted content in speech.
- anhedonia - Not deriving pleasure out of normally pleasurable things
- attitude:
- self-perception theory - you act first, then attribute attitudes and beliefs after the fact. One idea is that you can use gut reactions to interpret what it is you truly want
- propositional attitude - "Sally believes (X) that Y" where X can be some attitude, and Y is some proposition (like all apples are red)
- attribution theory - whether you attribute behavior as being the result of intrinsic or extrinsic factors.
- Big five personality traits - lexical locii that we use to describe each other's personality
- coping skill - overcoming adversity without eliminating adversity
- cognitive dissonance
- cognitive psychology
- collective unconscious - contains symbols present in all humans across all cultures
- comorbidity - The presence of one or more disorders (or diseases) in addition to a primary disease or disorder
- developmental psychology
- emotion
- emotional intelligence
- Erikson's stages of psychosocial development - stages we go through based on our primary social relations
- fis phenomenon - phoneme perception order in development of children
- fundamental attribution error
- God complex - arrogant people
- group polarization
- Highly sensitive persons
- ipsative - "of the self" as in "self-assessment"
- introspection
- mental event - events in the mind
- mental function - perception and that ilk
- metacognition
- microexpression - generally imperceptible non-verbal body language
- noema - like schemas
- norm of reciprocity - Hare Krishna gives out flowers to make you want to give back
- Plaget's theory - cognitive developmental framework, simple.
- positive psychology
- priming - Unconscious brainstorming before taking on a task
- psychological repression
- qualia - contested shorthand for the indescribable experience
- shyness
- Simon effect - response and stimuli are faster when physical location is closer (like having a keyboard near your monitor)
- triarchic theory of intelligence - would like to tackle this furthur, the page is vague, and I think this is an important theory.
- ventilation hypothesis - A few interesting points (ref):
- experiencing emotions rather than expressing emotions that can lead to cognitive reappraisal and improved mental and physical health
- the most effective therapeutic interventions should include both moderate emotional expression and cognitive reappraisal.

Thanks for starting the Logan Pearsall Smith page. I had hoped to do it myself someday, as I have a great interest in his parents and created the pages for them. Logophile 17:05, 8 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] World of Warcraft External Link
Regarding your addition of a link to the World of Warcraft article, please first discuss any links you might want to add on the talk page before actually adding them in. Thanks! --Arabani 00:20, 3 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Burt reynolds younger.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Burt reynolds younger.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. AriGold 21:48, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Minor edits
Remember to mark your edits as minor only when they genuinely are (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). "The rule of thumb is that an edit of a page that is spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'." -Will Beback 05:57, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- which article in particular did you notice this error? --Philosophistry 07:51, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
