Talk:Philip I of France

Russian mother? what Russians at 11 century?

There is an inconsistency within the 'pedia regarding the date of his death. This article says July 29, whereas the July 31 entry says otherwise. -User:Olivier

He died sometime during the night between July 29 and July 30, at Melun, so it definitely shouldn't be July 31. Someone else

There is another inconsistency regarding the spelling of his name. The entire article has it spelt "Philippe" and the title says "Philip". Although it would seem that the article is right because AFAIK that is the proper French spelling of the name, I am not sure. --Lucky13pjn 17:01, Aug 24, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] dates

does anyone know where the birth dates of Philip's children with Bertrade can be found in the sources? CR

As far as I know, no source states the births of Philippe's three children by Bertrade. They must've been born between 1092 (when Bertrade ran off with Philippe) and 1108, when Philippe died. I think the daughter, Cecile, was probably the firstborn, as she left France in 1106 with her brother-in-law, Bohemund I of Antioch, to marry Bohemund's nephew Tancred. If she were born in 1093, she would have been about thirteen or so, a common enough age for marriage. See Genealogiae Comitum Flandriae for Philippe and Bertrade's children.
