Phillips Holmes

Phillips Holmes (b. July 22, 1907 in Grand Rapids, Michigan - d. July 22, 1942 in Ontario, Canada) was a movie star of the 1930s. Son of stage star Taylor Holmes, Phillips enjoyed a privileged childhood and received his education at Princeton University, Trinity College, and in Paris. Holmes made his screen debut in 1928. From there, he became a major star, although he was often typecast. After retiring, Holmes joined the Canadian Royal Air Force; he was in his early thirties when he was killed in a mid-air collision.

Phillips Holmes has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
