Philadelphia Ramblers

The Philadelphia Ramblers was the name of two professional ice hockey teams that played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The first team, formerly known as the Philadelphia Arrows (1927-35), played in the Canadian-American Hockey League (1935-36) and the American Hockey League (née International-American Hockey League) (1936-42). From 1935 through 1941 the team was the primary minor league affiliate of the New York Rangers and many future and aging Ranger stars played for the Ramblers. The Rangers ended the agreement after the 1940-41 season. The team changed its name to the Philadelphia Rockets for the 1941-42 season, which turned out to be their final season. This team played its home games in the Philadelphia Arena.

The second team played in the Eastern Amateur Hockey League from 1955 to 1964. After the end of the 1963-64 season, the team relocated to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and were renamed the Jersey Devils (not to be confused with the NHL team). This version of the Ramblers also played in the Philadelphia Arena.
Former members of the Ramblers included Ted Harris (1956-58), and future Toronto Maple Leafs coach John Brophy. Doug Adam both played and coached for the Ramblers.
