Pharmacoeconomics

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pharmacoeconomics refers to the scientific discipline that compares the value of one pharmaceutical drug or drug therapy to another. In this analysis, the costs ($) and benefits (either in monetary terms or reflected in enhanced quality of life, extended longevity, etc.) for each pharmaceutical are calculated and compared. Pharmacoeconomic measurements include cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-minimization, and cost-utility analysis and serve to guide optimal resource allocation in a standardized and scientifically-grounded manner.

A complete compilation of cost-utility analyses in the peer reviewed medical literature is available at the The CEA Registry Website.
