[edit] Welcome from Redwolf24
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

[edit] Image of artists
Hi Petufo,
Thanks for uploading some pictures of several artists, such as Image:Kingman portrait.jpg. However, can you please add appropriate copyright licence tags to the image pages along with information on where the pictures came from.
Images that are not tagged, or that don't have freely usable licences, tend to get deleted. -- Solipsist 07:31, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Villafuerte1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Villafuerte1.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged imaged will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much.
- Image:Villafuerte2.jpg, too, please. --Michael 07:45, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Art images
Hi please tag all images of art made after 1923 with art (with these pointy brackets around art {{ }} ) Thanks! Arnie587 00:30, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] URGENT PLEASE TAG ALL YOUR IMAGES
Please go through your contributions here Special:Contributions/Petufo and tag all your untagged images and give the source otherwise all your work will be useless as they will get deleted :( Arnie587 00:33, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Félix Arauz
I marked this as cleanup as it is not very good English, and someone should be able to improve the translation with a little time, I did not have time now. I appreciate that English may not be your native language, but please do not remove the tag. Thanks for your contributions. Justinc 01:23, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Steve Earle
- Petufo, I noticed you uploaded Image:SEarle1 5x7.jpg. As a Steve Earle fan myself, I'm curious about the date and location of the photo. Would you mind adding some info to the image page and to the photo caption in the Steve Earle article? Thanks for posting! -- Dave C.talk | Esperanza 05:33, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Viteri.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Viteri.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -SCEhardT 20:30, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Categories
Howdy, it's not neccessary to create articles like List of Colombian artists when we have a category for Columbian painters. They're redundant. Friday (talk) 06:31, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary
Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 0% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 2 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:00, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:GreyGreen.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. [edit] Image tagging for Image:PaseantesEnDiagonal.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:PaseantesEnDiagonal.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

- Image:Villacis2.jpg
- Image:HeadIndian.jpg
- Image:Lettuce.jpg
- Image:ComposicionEspacial1956.jpg
- And all the other pictures uploaded by you.
Also, when uploading pictures you need to provide adequate description. For example, for paintings you need to show author, name of painting, date when it was painted, if know, where it is now. If you have questions, ask on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. In addition, do not provide false claims that the above paintings are licensed under GFDL. YellowDot 16:24, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- I see you keep reverting {{no source}}. That is considered to be vandalism and you can be blocked from editing. You can remove the template only if you provide a source for that image. "Source" is where you got the image from, i.e. website, scanned from book/journal, took yourself. You also need to provide decription for images: who made it, when it was made, what it depicts, etc. And again, do not provide false claims that some images are licensed under GFDL. If you need help - ask on my talk page instead of reverting. YellowDot 23:13, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
-
- Ok, let me explain few things and why the bot was right. First, copyrights are authors rights in the image and in most countries they are now automatic, i.e. as soon as you create something, you own copyright in it. You don't need to register or fill out any forms, copyrights are yours. If you own copyrights, it means that other people cannot copy your work without your permission. So Wikipedia can only accept images where authors allowed the images to be copied (they can allow it by licensing the images under GFDL, Creative commons or somilar "free") licenses. Some paintings by famous painters are obviously not licensed under any free license because painters have a strong commercial interest in prohibiting any reproduction of their paintings.
- What to do? U.S. copyright laws have this "fair use" principle, which in essense says that if you really badly need the image, and you are non-profit educational institution, and you can sow that authors comercial interest won't be demaged, when you can use the image. Hence, you are tagging images with {{art}}. But the tag is not enough. According to Wikipedias policies you also need to provide the following:
- Source: website or journal the image was taken from.
- Author: who created the image? when?
- Copyright owner: usually, but not always, that's the same as author.
- Fair use rationale: why you believe the image falls under fair use principle of the U.S. laws. See Wikipedia:Image description page#Fair use rationale for examples.
- If any of the points are missing - image will be deleted. And the bot was right, it scanned image description page and saw that there is no source and tagged it for deletion. Wikipedia gets 1000's images every single day and it's humanly impossible to manually go and check every one of them.
- So what you need to do is go though your image contributions, add source, author, copyright owner, and fair use rationale, remove false claims of GFDL, and be careful next time. Ok? YellowDot 20:40, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Araceli Paris 1955.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Araceli Paris 1955.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:05, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Titina 1966 Mixed.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Titina 1966 Mixed.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 18:08, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Constante Theo.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Constante Theo.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 22:59, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
