The Bischöfliches Gymnasium Petrinum is a Catholic private school of the Linz Diocese with a 100 year tradition. It is situated on mount Poestlingberg in Urfahr, which is a part of Linz.

On July, 2nd 1896 the works on building the school began. The Petrinum which nearly has 1000 windows soon became one of the leading schools in the monarchy. Also the Kaiser Franz Joseph I came to visit the Petrinum in 1903. In times of World War I it became a hospital for soldiers. In the Third Reich there first was education in the Petrinum, but after all it turned into a camp for soldiers and after the war the red army occupied it. In autumn 1946 education started again.

Now the Petrinum isn't, as it was before, a school for boys only. There are lots of possbilities to do various sports.
