Peters and Lee

Peters and Lee were a successful British folk/pop duo of the 1970s, comprising Lennie Peters (1933 - 1992) and Dianne Lee (born 1950). Lennie Peters, who was blinded in an accident when aged 16, was a pianist playing in London pubs when he teamed up with actress and dancer Dianne Lee in 1970. They entered the TV talent show Opportunity Knocks which they won easily. A record contract was signed and quickly followed by the number one hit Welcome Home. They had five hits in the seventies, before disbanding in 1980. They subsequently reunited to perform on the nostalgia circuit, before Lennie Peters died from cancer in 1992 aged 59.

Their five UK chart hits were:

  • Welcome Home -May 1973 (reached number 1)
  • By Your Side -November 1973 (reached number 39)
  • Don't Stay Away Too Long April 1974 (reached number 3)
  • Rainbow August 1974 (reached number 17)
  • Hey Mr. Music Man March 1976 (reached number 16)
