Peter Woo

Peter Woo Kwong Ching GBS, JP MBA (Chinese:吳光正)(born 1946) is Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in 2002, Chairman of Wheelock and Company Limited and The Wharf (Holdings) Limited.
Born in Shanghai in 1946 and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. He attended St. Stephen's Primary School and College, University of Cincinnati (Physics and Math) and Columbia University (MBA).
After graduating, Mr Woo worked at Chase Manhattan Bank and Worldwide Shipping Group.
He is married to Bessie Pao, daughter of Hong Kong shipping magnate Sir Yue Kong Pao. Sir Y.K. died in 1991 but prior to this, in 1986, had retired from day to day management of his business empire. At that time Mr Woo became the head of the Wheelock / Wharf part of the empire whilst the shipping interests (now Bergesen Worldwide) came under another son in law, Helmut Sohmen.
Mr Woo is also:
- Chairman of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee
- Member of the Court of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
- Chairman of the Hong Kong Hospital Authority
- Tied at 335th of the richest persons in the world at $2.3 billion.
