The Most Reverend Peter Smith is the current Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cardiff in South Wales. He was born on the 20th October 1943 in London.
He was ordained as a parish priest in Southwark, England in 1972. He later became Bishop of East Anglia in 1995 before taking up his current post in 2001.
Smith has often been quoted in the press regarding his strong anti-homosexuality stance, especially regarding teachers in Catholic schools.
