Peter Shaw was kidnapped in Tbilisi, Georgia, in June 2002, and held underground for several months before being released. His kidnappers held him chained up underground in freezing conditions in the region of Pankisi Gorge while demanding a ransom of more than $US3 million. Fortunately he was able to escape. He had been living and working as a bank adviser in Georgia for 6 years before the crime. He now lives in Wales with his Georgian partner and young son.
