Peter Rodney Llewellyn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peter Rodney Llewellyn (born November 1, 1947 in Walthamstow, England, and not Wales as he leads people to believe), is an international businessman who is most well-known for having nearly persuaded the Russian Space Agency into permitting him to fly on the Space Station Mir in 1999. He had reportedly offered to pay $100 million for the privilege. When he was subsequently ousted from the project he claimed there had been a mistake. Numerous allegations of fraud noted for their elaborate nature have been made against Llewellyn in several jurisdictions (including the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam and Australia). He was described by the Pittsburgh police who arrested him in 1996 as being a “conman of the first order”. Those charges were dropped when Llewellyn paid restitution. He is reputed to use litigation to silence those who make allegations.
Llewellyn was married to Ohio politician Kara Anastasio. They divorced in March 2003. In 2002, Llewellyn participated in founding a company known as the Anasell Group. The "Anasell Group" appears to exist only as a website since it is not listed as a corporation in the USA. The only postal address offered on the Anasell Group website is a post office box in Ohio. A fax number listed on the website is identical to a fax number appearing on Anastasio's political campaign literature. The business portfolio is claimed to comprise airport security and waste recycling although these businesses are not referenced in industry directories. An earlier version of the website included a reference to a business called 'Pure Herbal' which offered, amongst other items, a breast enhancer from Thailand.
