Peter Pan Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Peter Pan Stakes is a race for thoroughbred horses run each year at Belmont Park on Long Island, New York. A Grade II event, it's open to three-year-olds willing to race nine furlongs on the dirt. The Peter Pan carries a purse of $200,000.
In its 53rd year in 2006, the race is run in honor of a colt born in 1906 called Peter Pan by Commando by Domino. Peter Pan was 1907's champion three-year-old male and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1956.
Gallant Man won this race in 1957.
