Peter Rosenkrands Løvenkrands (born January 29, 1980) is a professional footballer who currently plays for the German Bundesliga team Schalke 04. He is a centre forward who can also play as a winger although this is not his favoured position. Løvenkrands has played more than ten games and scored a single goal for the Danish national team and he was part of the Danish team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, as well as Euro 2004.
He joined Scottish club Rangers in 2000 for £1.3 million from AB Copenhagen. He went on to play over 100 games for the Ibrox club, scoring more than 50 goals including a famous last minute winner against Celtic in the 2002 Scottish Cup final. In August 2005, he trialled for English Premiership club Middlesbrough but decided not to move as he started the 2005-06 season still with Rangers. He started in impressive scoring form, and played an important role in Rangers' run to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League tournament scoring 4 goals during the campaign. In the group stage, he opened the scoring in the 3-2 win against FC Porto and with his goal in the 1-1 draw against Inter Milan he secured Rangers' advancement to the knock-out round. In the round of 16, he scored in both the home and away game, as Rangers were eventually eliminated by Villarreal CF on the away goals rule.
When his contract with Rangers expired in the summer 2006, Løvenkrands was reportedly in talks with a number of clubs, including Spanish club Osasuna, and AS Roma from Italy.[1] Løvenkrands signed for FC Schalke 04 on 23 May 2006 on a free transfer after 6 years at Ibrox.
