Peter Krause (last name pronounced Krow-saa) (born August 12, 1965) is an American film and television actor, best known for his role as Nate Fisher on the popular HBO drama Six Feet Under.

Krause was born in Alexandria, Minnesota. Growing up, he was a skilled track and field athlete, but he suffered an unfortunate pole vaulting injury in high school that ended his athletic career. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and became interested in theatre. He decided to pursue acting as a career and transferred to New York University to enroll in its Master of Fine Arts program. While working as a bartender in New York City, he met writer Aaron Sorkin.
From 1998-2000 Krause portrayed the character Casey McCall on the ABC comedy Sports Night, created by his friend Aaron Sorkin. Although the show received considerable critical acclaim, it struggled to find ratings and was cancelled after only two seasons.
Krause began his role on Six Feet Under in 2001 and has received much critical acclaim and several award nominations (including a 2006 Emmy nomination) for his portrayal of funeral director Nate Fisher.
In December 2006 he played the lead role, Detective Joe Miller, in the Sci Fi Channel miniseries The Lost Room.
