Peter Karlsson (hockey player)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peter Karlsson (born 1966 died March 11, 1995) was a Swedish ice hockey player for Västerås IK in Elitserien, the highest-level Swedish ice hockey league.
Peter Karlsson was murdered by a 19-year-old skinhead who used a knife to stab him 64 times. The March 11, 1995 killing is believed to have happened because Karlsson was homosexual and the killer subsequently claimed that Karlsson tried to initiate a relationship. After the murder, Karlsson's team played a protest match in support of him. The sentence, which was only eight years, outraged many in the Swedish gay community.
