Peter Jones (Ojibway Methodist minister)

Peter Jones was born on January 1, 1802 and died in 1856. He was a Mississauga from the Credit River, where he lived with his mother until he was 14, and an ordained Methodist minister. To the Ojibway he became known as Kahkewaquonaby or "Sacred Waving Feathers" (referring to eagle feathers). He presented a petition to Queen Victoria in 1838 from chiefs of the Mississauga Ojibway community asking for title deeds.
