Peter Hutton (footballer)

Peter Hutton (born 2 March 1973 in Derry, Northern Ireland) is a defender playing for League of Ireland fooball team Derry City F.C.. He is the club's current captain. "Pizza" (as he is affectionately known to fans) managed the club for a short period in the aftermath of Gavin Dykes' departure.

Hutton has also spent time at Portadown and a season at Shelbourne between his long-term spells at Derry City. He won the League Championship with the latter in 2001/02 and returned to his hometown soon after.

In early December 2006, Hutton revealed his admiration for his former manager, Stephen Kenny, comparing his ability to that of Martin O'Neill's. On 13 December 2006 the defender was nominated for the eircom / Soccer Writers Association of Ireland (SWAI) 'Personality of the Year' award after his fine displays during the 2006 season.
