Pete Lockett

Peter Robert Lockett (born April 8, 1962) is an English percussionist and recording artist. As one of the most versatile and prolific percussionists in the world, Lockett is known for his remarkable ability to bring traditional musical instruments out of their original cultural setting.

Lockett grew up in Portsmouth, England, in a non-musical family. He gained an interest in music at the age of 19 when he passed a drum shop one day and decided to book a lesson. Lockett found a career in music (especially in percussion) to be exhilerating, eventually moving to London two years later to pursue a career in the field.

He has recorded and/or performed with Björk, Afro Celt Sound System, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, The Verve, Nitin Sawhney, Bill Bruford, Jeff Beck, Zakir Hussain, Viku Vinayakram, Mandolin Shrinivas, Texas, Craig Armstrong, Transglobal Underground, Mel C, Bedlam, Beth Orton, Kulu Shaker and Vanessa-Mae amongst others. He has also worked extensively in the film industry, playing on the three most recent Bond movies, Moulin Rouge!, The Insider, Plunkett and Maclean, and the Guy Ritchie movie Snatch.
