The Perth Heat were one of the foundation members of the now defunct Australian Baseball League. In late 2005 the Western Australian Baseball team that competes in the Claxton Shield adopted the Perth Heat name in an attempt to lift the teams profile and promote Baseball Western Australia.

[edit] Barbagallo Perth Heat

With the unofficial announcement of the Australian Baseball League starting back up in November 2007, Barbagallo Perth Heat will enter back into the Australian Baseball League to play against 4 other un-announced teams and the Australian Provincial team to be based in Canberra[1].

Heat will be based at the head quarters of Baseball WA, Tom Bateman Reserve. After recently playing a number of exhibition matches Heat have been attracting crowds of up to 2,500, where other Australian states are getting between 500-800[2].
