Persian blue

Persian blue comes in two shades: a kind of dark blue similar to indigo and a bright blue that is slightly greenish. The darker shade of Persian blue is more properly referred to as Persian indigo or dark Persian blue.
Other colours associated with Persia include Persian red , Persian Pink, Persian Rose, and Persian green.

At right is displayed the color Persian indigo. It is also called dark Persian blue. Another name for this color is regimental as it used to be the color of the navy uniforms of some nations.
It is named for an association with a product from Persia: Persian cloth dyed with indigo.

At right is displayed the color Persian blue.
This color is named from the blue colour of Persian pottery. It is the color of the mineral lapis lazuli which comes from Persia and Afghanistan. Many beautiful mosques in Iran, such as the enormous Blue mosque in Isfahan, are faced with tiles that are this color. (The color azure is also named after the mineral lapis lazuli).
