Perpetual Burn is a neoclassical metal song by Jason Becker from his album of the same name. It is notable for it's comprehensive use of heavy metal guitar technique, it's extreme speed, and it's elaborate harmonic structure inside the diminished scale. It is an elaborate and comprehensive showcase of virtuosity that has few parallels in the guitar world. It necessitates a mastery of many guitar techniques, the foremost among them sweep picking, but also scale runs, legato picking, and tapping.
