Percy Sugden

Percy Sugden was a Coronation Street character played by Bill Waddington between 1983 and 1997. Originally the caretaker at the community centre, he eventually became Emily Bishop's lodger. Percy had unwanted female attention thanks to Phyllis Pearce and Maud Grimes. In retropsect it would appear that the characters of Percy Sugden and Phyllis Pearce were parachuted into the soap in the early 1980s as replacements for Ena Sharples and Albert Tatlock.
