Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a series of children's books by Rick Riordan using elements from Greek mythology in a modern setting.

[edit] The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson learns that he is a half-blood, half Greek God and half normal human. In order to prevent a war between his father, Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades, Percy attempts to recover Zeus' famous lightning bolt. Along with his friends, Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr, Percy travels cross-country, from Long Island (the location of Camp Half-Blood) to Los Angeles (the location of the Underworld.) On the way there, Percy meets Medusa and Ares (who has the lightning bolt.) Percy tricks Ares into giving him the lightning bolt, and the war is prevented.

[edit] The Sea of Monsters

To save Grover and find the Golden Fleece, Percy, Annabeth, and Percy's half-brother Tyson must sail to the Sea of Monsters.
