Category talk:Persian deities

[edit] Removal

There's a pattern of deletions and reversions going on here. The main here, I think, are that the subject line is very misleading. Placing Yazata in this category implies that a Yazata is a kind of god or deity, but that's certainly not how they're understood by contemporary Zoroastrians, and there's a pretty good case for this being true in the past as well.

The other problem, of course, is that the categories "Persian goddesses" and "Persian gods" are also empty.

I think it would be better to abandon the category and come up with something with a more appropriate name. RandomCritic 19:37, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Yup. I agree. As it is, 'Persian deities' just as meaningful/meaningless as 'Category:Arabian deities', another Gtrmp creation. And the god/goddess delineation is (IMO) as useful as a (hypothetical) Category:People by gender. -- Fullstop 15:10, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
