[edit] Redirect

Please redirect to template:bio-stub.

This page should not be recreated as a redirect under any circumstances. see repeated discussions of this and similarly named {{People stub}} at WP:SFD. BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 23:49, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
seconded. It should not be recreated, as per lengthly discussions on its potential as a redirect. For further details, please consult the entries relating to the deletion of this item at SFD. Grutness...wha? 05:36, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

I removed the 'editprotected' request (again) since there does not seem to be consensus for this change. --CBDunkerson 17:53, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

There's bloody common sense. Is this really better as a deleted page than as a redirect? --SPUI (T - C - RFC) 21:06, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, much, as has been argued at great length. Alai 21:51, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I have no idea and don't think it should be the place of admins to over-ride community decisions. I won't remove the 'editprotected' template again, but I certainly won't make a change without consensus. That just invites a subsequent request to change it back and wastes everyone's time. --CBDunkerson 22:14, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Consensus is for it to be deleted, I don't see any reason for it to be in use. Stifle (talk) 00:14, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion Notice

(I didn't place the editprotected notice above.) Could an admin perhaps consider replacing the {{deletedpage}} tag with a brief message explaining that the stub type has been deleted and should not be recreated, rather than an article? I saw a couple of articles being tagged as {{db-repost}} because they thought the article had been deleted previously, which simply is not the case. Perhaps replace this message with something like:

The People-stub stub type has been deleted and should not be recreated without a valid reason. If you see this message on an article, please remove the {{People-stub}} tag and/or replace it with an existing stub type, such as {{Bio-stub}}.

Currently, it is very confusing to see this notice when it is transcluded within an article. Thanks. AmiDaniel (Talk) 04:51, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Done. --CBDunkerson 15:18, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. AmiDaniel (Talk) 22:37, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

{{editprotected}} This thing is a mess. The {{deletedpage}} should have noinclude around it and the message to editors should be includeonly. Currently you get the message, the deletedpage, the SALT category, AND the message about the template being a self reference when you accidently transclude this. Kotepho 10:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Is it better now? Currently, when used on an article it will display as "Template:People-stub has been deleted. Please substitute an existing stub type such as {{Bio-stub}}." Everything else will only be visible when viewing the template. AmiDaniel (talk) 08:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] On the deletion and ultimate protection of this template.

Getting rid of useful redirects because you dislike the person who created them harms Wikipedia. I hope you're quite proud of yourselves.--68.64.65.89 10:52, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
