Talk:People claiming to be the Mahdi

[edit] Muhammad Ahmad
Under Muhammad Ahmad, the final sentance "Omdurman, a suburb of Khartoum, was the scene of the bloody battle (2 September 1898) in which British forces under Sirdar Horatio Kitchener defeated the Mahdist forces defending the city." seems irrelevant - it was years after his death, and its importance is unclear. Perhaps replace with something like "Muhammad Ahmad died later that same year, but the Mahdist state he created lasted until 1899." ? -- Beardo 21:25, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] al-Mukhtar
An anon keeps adding al-Mukhtar. According to the page he doesn't appear to be a Mahdi claimant. If someone is more familiar with the subject please explain and add a well written summary, as I have never heard of this individual. Cuñado - Talk 06:25, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Juhayman al-Oteibi
To my knowledge, Juhayman al-Oteibi did not claim to be the Mahdi. He was the ringleader of a group in which a man he first met in prison, Muhammad bin Abdullah al-Qahtani, proclaimed himself the Mahdi at Oteibi's urging. Note that Qahtani's names accord with the prophesies relating to the Mahdi (that he will share the name and father's name of the Prophet). One source which confirms this account is Lawrence Wright's recent book "The Looming Tower", which contains a detailed account of the Mecca revolt of 1979. He uses the spelling Utaibi for Juhayman.

[edit] Dan Ross
I am Dan Ross. My addition to being a claimant to be the Mahdi was deleted. My evidence is direct, and non controversial. The outcome is controversial, as it overturns the world order, but the facts leading to that conclusion are not. My being the real Mahdi of course as already foretold in prophecy will have my assertion denied, as proven already by being deleted. “As in the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the son of man.” Only eight people upheld Noah, the other billions denied him. So far as it was, it is again today. Can you be one of the rare few that do not deny, and will not delete? Do you site prophecy that forces you to delete me, or do you do it independently because those in the Days of Noah were degenerates. Facts are facts, and just because the facts are disagreeable to the typical reader does not mean one should use indiscriminate bias to delete the truth. Here is my web site, which is not self promotional, but simply does what God assigned me to do: http://home.earthlink.net/~donutnous/ My email address is found in that link. Please reply via email as well.
My apologies if my site was deleted for another reason, one simple to correct, and not done as stated above. After being denied, and hated for 13 years, one begins to simply, by force of habit, respond in the manner I have done. I find my courtesy is typically returned with lies, and hatred so now I am a bit defensive. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danross (talk • contribs).
- Wikipedia has guidelines that govern content. Articles must be well referenced, not original research, non-promotional, etc. See WP:NOR. Just because you claim to be the Mahdi, doesn't mean that you meet the requirements for inclusion on the page. First you need to become important. The link to your homepage is meaningless in this argument. Cuñado - Talk 00:18, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Read my web site, and you will see by various proofs I am more important than any human has been in history for quite sometime. Here is my website, which proves it: http://home.earthlink.net/~donutnous/ Unfortunately one will need to think, like does a scientist. You gave no basis whatsoever to say what I have is meaningless, unless you say that truth is the basis for lies, and lies are the basis for truth. My site shows that Muslims think that a person reading a book that does not exist proves they are correct to say that the person reading the imaginary book is Mohammed. Yes, what I just said there sounds insane, and yet I am not the one doing it. I merely tell you what about 1 billion people are doing. Read my site, and see a world gone mad, just like you people saying things about me that you can not support. I really don't care if you people wish to say that people who can not prove they are the Mahdi, as history shows what the Mahdi will do, and what has come to be by these frauds does not line up, are canditates to be shown in wikipedia. You only want frauds to be noted. So good, then leave me out. You people are lunatics if you persist in your illogical thought process. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Danross (talk • contribs).
