The Peoria Journal Star is the major daily newspaper for Peoria, Illinois and its surrounding area. First owned locally, then employee-owned, it is currently owned by Copley Press, the same company that owns The San Diego Union-Tribune.
First established as the Peoria Daily Transcript in 1855, it has a daily circulation of 70,000 copies and a Sunday circulation of 90,350 copies.
