The People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism is a radical socialist political party in The Gambia. Its candidate at the presidential elections of 18 October 2001, Sidia Jatta, came fifth with 3.0% of the popular vote. At the last legislative elections, 17 January 2002, the party won 3 of 48 seats.
PDOIS is led by Halifa Sallah, who is the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and a member of the Pan-African Parliament.
In 2005, PDOIS took part in the foundation of the National Alliance for Democracy and Development.
PDOIS publishes Foroyya, which comes out thrice a week.
