- I'm a New York City Wikipedian, but I was born and raised in a cornfield and am returning to it in the very near future.
- I've done a bit of technical, news, features, grant and curriculum writing and have taught English at most all levels. Despite (or because of) this, when it comes to grammar, I sit comfortably on the descriptivist side of the fence and enjoy starting sentences with but and ending them with prepositions.
- I generally avoid exercise. At times in my life when I'm not eating everything within reach, however, I do enjoy Latin ballroom and street dancing, including salsa, tango, cha-cha, and to a lesser extent, merengue and bachata. I'm currently not dancing and am currently eating everything within reach.
- Frank McCourt is the only celebrity I've ever gone out of my way to meet, and I was happy for days afterward. I told him I was teaching in the city schools and he told me I'm a saint.
- The value of my undergraduate diploma has apparently gone up since I graduated. The last solicitation I received in the mail noted that the school is climbing in the national rankings and that its acceptance rate has fallen below 10 percent. It made me a little sad to think that I probably wouldn't have gotten into my own college.
