Penobsquis, New Brunswick

Penobsquis (IPA pronunciation: [pɛnɑbskwɪs]) is a village in New Brunswick, Canada, just outside the small town of Sussex. It has a population of 1382 people according to Industry Canada. [1] It is the headquarters of the New Brunswick division of the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, and a sizeable potash mine operated by the company is located in the town. Promising natural gas wells have also been found in the area, prompting talks of the possibility of developing a Natural Gas Energy Park. Other attractions include the Plumweseep covered bridge and the Animal Land Park, which showcases a variety of cement sculptures.
